A strange request… but a dream, non–the-less | Okanagan Photographer

ok i just re-read my title for this post.. and it totally rhymes!!! … ya. i’m cool like that.

ANYWAYS…  for the last 10 days i have been thinking about something that i really want to shoot. so i thought, what better way to get it out there than to blog about it! i want to do an engagement session on a sail boat!! i know it may sound random and somewhat of a strange request, but this is honestly one of my DREAM shoots, and i can’t get it out of my head!

i think there is something so romantic about a nautical theme. the water calms me, and the soft warm glow from a setting sun fills up my soul. this idea has me inspired, and i have found myself staring off into space frequently for the last couple days just playing it out in my mind.

i imagine a beautiful calm evening, the sun going down covering everything with the setting sun’s yellow glow, a couple celebrating the promise of forever, in-love and laughing. a cute-flowing-romantic-style dress, maybe some champagne, a dreamy teak sailboat and ME WITH MY CAMERA!! oh what i would do to have this shoot come to reality. and after playing it over and over in my mind,  it came to my realization that when we really want things, no matter how big or how small, we have to set our mind to go out and get it!! so! even though i don’t have a sailboat, and i don’t necessarily live in the “sunset-capital” of canada,  i believe it is going to happen! we are only a 4 hour drive to the ocean, and i can’t wait for when the right couple comes to me saying they want to do this and the opportunity arises! do any of you have random dreams like this? i once heard, that if we all kept our dreams and thoughts bottled up inside, no one would ever hear them and therefore no one would ever be able to help you achieve them. so this is me, putting this random dream out there, and if anyone knows of any way that this could happen, i would be thrilled to hear about it! take a minute today and think, what are your dreams? there is no dream ever too big, or too small!

“Dreams and dedication are a powerful combination” William Longgood

“Man, alone, has the power to transform his thoughts into physical reality; man, alone, can dream and make his dreams come true.” Napoleon Hill

“The key to happiness is having dreams. The key to success is making your dreams come true.” Anonymous

“We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter’s evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true”  Woodrow Wilson

…and because every post is better with a photo… here are a couple i snapped with my iphone on saturday while SC and i were off exploring Summerland, the restaurant where we had dinner was right on the water, and luck would have it.. right in front of us was a dock filled with sailboats……. Happy Tuesday!
