the first day of septemeber and the weather was PERFECT… it wasn’t too hot, not to cold, calm winds and a beautiful bright blue sky. i have had the pleasure of meeting rachelle & brian last year when i did a lifestyle session of them and their adorable little girl averie, and i have also been in contact with rachelle over the last couple months as she attended the live to learn photography class i held back in march! when we showed up to gatzke orchard for their session it felt like i was meeting up with a long-time friend, which is one of the most AMAZING things about my job. i am always so incredibly thankful for all these incredible people who come into our life, and scott and i couldn’t be happier to be shooting their november wedding in a few months! (ahh! did i just say november was in a few months!?!? what happened to SUMMER!?… anyways… )

rachelle and brian are so genuine and kind. her bubbly personality mixed with his sarcastic sense of humor is the perfect combination, and their daughter is BEYOND cute. she came to the session to sneak in a couple shots and was so crazy happy the entire time, laughing and giving out handshakes to everyone. the orchard was so fitting for their engagement photos as rachelle & brian run a farm out by lumby called zelaney farms, and you can find a lot of what they grow at their local farmer’s market. as the sun was dropping faster then we expected, we ended up making a spontaneous decision to drive to the other side of the lake to find a new location that still had sunlight ~ we ended up finding this AMAZING field in the ditch off the side of the road, and even snuck over the fence for a few shots in the pasture – i absolutely LOVE it when things like this happen during shoots… a total unexpected, unplanned location which turned out to be one of the BEST spots i have shot in in the okanagan… BONUS!!
