“If you wait to do everything until you’re sure it’s right, you’ll probably never do much of anything” ~ win borden
so true right? although as much as i love spontaneity, it takes me a bit to get there just like everyone else. i am the queen of the should i … or should i not… until i am finally so sick of thinking about it i just take the leap. whether its the right or the wrong decision, i just go with it and make it work, and try to get as much out of whatever it is that i can. best part is, things always work out if you make them work out! i believe that things are what you make of them, and that is why i believe in being spontaneous.
a good friend of mine, jackie from jacilyn m photography, posted on her page today: “i don’t believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive.” ~ Joseph Campbell ~ and for me, THIS IS BEING SPONTANEOUS!! it makes me feel alive, i love the surprise of what might happen, and how whatever i am doing might change my story in ways that are completely unknown to me. i live for this feeling of being “alive”, and i am thankful for the many opportunities in my life to be this way!
so it was 10:30pm, last monday. for 2 days i had been going round ‘n round, “should i go? or should i stay”. i had looked up flights what seemed like 138 times, but it felt crazy. the flight left tuesday morning, 6:00am. that gave me 6 hours to unpack from my last trip, repack, do all the work i needed to do, sleep, shower and get to the airport to head to las vegas. “if you wait to do everything until you’re sure it’s right, you’ll probably never do much of anything”.. the words kept playing through my head, and finally with a little push from sc, i decided to JUST DO IT!! and i am so happy that i did.
it was crazy i will give you that! i had no plans, i didn’t even have a ticket to the photography conference (wppi), i had no idea where i was going to stay or who i was going to stay with. i just took the jump and it felt SO AMAZING. the unknown and the unplanned are 2 of my favorite things, and this was definitely both of them, haha!! after some crazy traveling (which involved me missing my flight, but somehow still getting on it), i landed in vegas at 11am tuesday morning – took a cab to the MGM Signiture, texted a few of my friends who were there for the photography conference, and just started wandering! i was so lucky that the beautiful tamara lockwood had a pull out couch in her room that she so graciously offered me for the first night, and then the amazing kelsey of kgoodphoto and her sister amber had an extra bed for me the second night. these girls, all from canada, (hence if you were following along on instagram “team canada”) are such INCREDIBLE people. i am truly grateful for having had the opportunity to spend so much time getting to know them and laughing with them. there were so many amazing people in vegas that i was able to really connect with, mostly because i had the time… BECAUSE i had no other plans! it was the perfect last minute trip, and i am thankful that i took the risk and went for it. here are a few shots of what we got up to, and i just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the amazing people i got to spend time with last week!! my heart is so full and i feel incredibly rich in friendships ~ my life is much better because you all are in it, and i couldn’t be happier. 🙂
so, i guess what i want to challenge you all with, is what are you doing in your life that makes you feel alive…?
