she melted into him as soon as he wrapped his arms around her. they stood on the bluff waiting for peter and i to get set up. they were about to say their vows to each other after being secretly married for a whole year. kerri nervously played with josh’s hands and she kept inching closer and closer to him with each minute that went by. when we were ready, we told them they could start and it was like the whole world went silent.
they hugged for a long time after they were done reading and i’ve never seen 2 smiles so big. it was such a beautiful moment that we just stood back and let them live in it as long as they wanted to. what an incredible memory, standing on the top of the grand canyon of the pacific, thousands of miles away from home, together. holding hands and officially committing their lives to one another in their own words. it reminded me why i love photographing enchanted elopements so much.
it was so simple and so meaningful, and after two solid weeks of rain and a forecast for a torrential downpour, for the rest of the afternoon the sun shone directly on them as if they were standing underneath the only hole in the clouds for the rest of the evening. at the end of the session when the unexpected sun had turned the sky the craziest colour of lingering purple and orange kerri fist-pumped the air and it was a perfect ending to a perfect day. congrats you two!! (thanks to peter at bradyhouse media for the epic drone photographs! highlight film for these two coming soon!)
