just as the last speech finished up we glanced outside to see the pouring rain. we had gotten the most beautiful day for chelsea and dean’s outdoor ceremony so it was lucky it had held off until everyone was inside. the em-cee called for the bouquet toss and once everyone was gathered they opened up the doors again for some fresh air. i happen to notice an orange glow on the picnic tables outside of the hall and we ran out quickly to see what was going on with the weather. the rain had stopped and the sky had opened up with the most beautiful rainbow was forming. i ran back inside and told chelsea, she tossed her bouquet and we ran outside. the rainbow got brighter and brighter as we ran out to the end of the road and as they stood underneath it i got the craziest goosebumps and had to remind myself to actually take the photograph and not just stare (ha!). the day before when we had arrived, chelsea and her girlfriends had joked around “warning” us that high prairie was nothing spectacular and that it may not be as magical as shooting in the rocky mountains, but in that moment i was assured once again that there is magic to be found everywhere, you just have to be willing to look for it. and i would say we definitely found it here. the rainbow formed a full bow overtop of them and their reception venue for about 2minutes and we happened to be in the perfect spot. once it dissipated we turned around to see the sky light up like fire as the sun peaked through minutes before going below the horizon.. in-credible. what an amazing moment.
we had such an awesome day getting to know chelsea, dean and their wonderful friends and family. the small town reminded me of home, and i felt so welcomed and comfortable there. the big wide open alberta skies are something i always miss when traveling as well as the warm hearts of those who live in these small farming communities. not to mention we were so far north that the leaves were turning already and it was fall!! the best surprise ever! 😉
thank you times a million for trusting me with your fairytale chelsea and dean, let me know if you’re ever in kauai!!
