Posing Tips for Wedding Photos | Bridal Portraits Edition

Wedding photos are memories that last a lifetime, and couples want to look their best on their big day. As a wedding photographer, it’s essential to guide our clients on posing techniques that will make them look relaxed and natural, but it’s always helpful to have some tips before your big day. In this blog post, we’ll be discussing three posing tips for wedding couples’ photos, plus an extra tip at the end to take your photos to the next level. Keep reading, and you will be thankful for these tips.

Tip 1: Bouquet at the belly button

The bouquet is an essential accessory for the bride, and it can be useful when posing for photos. Always hold your bouquet at your belly button to prevent it from hiding your dress or face from the camera. It will also make you look more relaxed and natural. An extra pro tip is to tilt the bouquet slightly forward while holding it so that the flowers can be seen from above. This posing technique will make your photos look fabulous.

Tip 2: Eye line

Eye contact is essential in photos, and it can be tricky to achieve the perfect pose. If you are shorter than your partner, look at your partner’s lips. If you are taller, look at your partner’s forehead. This will give a natural-looking eye line, and it will look like you are looking each other in the eyes, but without any straining. This technique will help you look romantic and intimate in your photos.

Tip 3: Give your hands something to do

Most people feel awkward when posing for photos and worry about what to do with their hands. As a photographer, we can help our clients pose naturally by giving them something to do. For the ladies, if you don’t have your bouquet in hand, play with your ring or hair. For the men, if there’s a pocket available, put your hand in there. You can also adjust your cuffs, collar, jacket, or watch. These posing techniques will make you feel more comfortable and natural in your photos.

Bonus Tip: Movement

Movement is an excellent way to take your photos to the next level and make them seem natural and flowy, not stiff and posed. Sway back and forth, dance to your favorite songs, talk and play around with each other as you normally would – making it feel like we’re capturing a more candid, relaxed moment. The tone of voice and body language should reflect romance, intimacy, or even adventure. This technique will make your photos look genuine and magical.
