they stood out on the bluff, hand in hand reading their vows to one another. her hair blew in the wind and he reached out and gently tucked it behind her ear as she read. we couldn’t hear their words but you could tell how much they meant just by watching how they looked at each other. the island blessed us with a clear valley on one of the stormiest days and everything felt as it was supposed to feel. slow, clam, intentional, magical. as if time was hanging on their every word.

so grateful we get to capture stories like these two, and they were such troopers hiking miles passed where we originally planned just to get to this epic lookout and it was soo worth it. meg and sam live on the big island of hawaii, and years ago when sam impulsively decided to move somewhere warmer while driving his snow truck in new york city, he thought about hawaii or where his family was down in florida. he looked at the snapple apple iced tea in his cup holder and decided to see if the universe would send him a sign. he cracked it open, and on the inside of the lid it read ‘hawaii is further south than florida” – it was meant to be! i thought that was the coolest story ever about moving to hawaii and it’s even radder that him and meg just went for it and actually moved to the islands to live the dream.

a huge thank you to peter at bradyhouse media for taking a ton of photographs with the drone this day. when we are in dramatic locations like this it is just impossible for me to shoot everything i want safely and it helps so much having peter there with the drone to get the shots we need to show the perspective of where we are. love getting to work together on days like this one!
