“christina, when you smile, or cry, or laugh, or breathe, you stop time. nothing else exists outside of those moments. in those moments, i have learned everything i need to learn. i am loved.” – ben to christina.
when they woke up that morning, christina and ben were expecting to have a early morning ceremony down on the cliffs, followed by an adventure hike in the mountains with peter and i. what they didn’t expect was that a cat about to have kittens would make them almost an hour later than expected for their ceremony (which was still incredibly beautiful), and their day would be proceeded by being chased around the island from a temperamental rain storm that wouldn’t give us a break. they slow danced as the rain fell to “i want to grow old with you” from adam sandlers ‘the wedding singer’ movie on an empty white sand beach and it turns out, it all was exactly the way their story was meant to go and i can’t think of a single thing that would have made it better.
these two exchanged the most beautiful and tear jerking vows to one another at their cliffside ceremony, and then we made our way up to the mountains to start their adventure. after an hour of driving and an hour and a half of us all sitting in a parking lot waiting for the weather to clear up (at least we had a cooler:)), these two embraced the day exactly as it came. the fog may have dampened our hiking plans but it was so mysterious and beautiful, and because of it we found ourselves on the most beautiful deserted beach, watching their first dance under the rain drops, laughing and popping champagne bottles toasting to their new adventure together. and at the end of the day, just when we thought the storm couldn’t follow us any further, it showed back up and this time, it brought the most beautiful full and lasting rainbow i had ever seen. these two brought magic around them no matter what the weather, and peter and i couldn’t have been more honored to get to be a part of their day and to have had an entire day to make some rad new friends. we’ll be cheering you guys on in the next winter olympics and peter already is planning our trip back to calgary to go on a bobsled ride with you ben, haha!! congrats you two, go canada!
