we walked up to the perfectly placed wildflowers placed in a circle on the sand. this must be their spot we thought to ourselves. cara and erik walked up to us and looked at me “did you guys do this!??” they asked. we had nothing to do with the flowers and we assumed someone in their party had surprised them with the set up but no one knew a thing. the officiant looked confused as she explained we had the only beach permit for the day so there was no other weddings, there was not a soul in sight and there were no footprints in the middle of the circle so it had never been used. it looked like it had been placed and left, just for them. i guess sometimes the island blesses you in mysterious ways, this sure seemed like one of them. they reached for eachother’s hand and entered into the mysterious ring of flowers, and when they were to step out, they would be starting their forever together right then and there.

the rain washed over us and it felt fresh and peaceful. as it passed, the sky began to light up with the setting sun in the most vibrant colors of orange and purple and the water was so blue it was as if it was glowing. i’ve never had so much color in a RAW photograph. she played in the water with her blue tulle dress and he spun her around. it almost didn’t look real with such an incredible backdrop. we are so lucky to do what we do, but even more so, we are so lucky to be inspired by these incredible moments. congratulations cara and erik, your day was an epic finish to 2017!

a huge thank you to micah for coming along on this shoot to help me out as i was still on crutches from my sprained ankle – over half of the below shots are from his camera and i just have to say, the team has really stepped up these last 7 weeks in helping me shoot and carry gear (and carry me when necessary haha), it’s amazing to watch us all grow more and more into our craft and i think we just have the best team ever! on that note, check out peters INSANEEEEE highlight film from this day at the bottom of the page, his last film of his first year in business and it is just stupid how AMAZING IT IS! team work makes the team work! enjoy!!
